The exhibition features print works from around the world to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Print Study Centre. The exhibition is up until January 28th with an opening on September 30th.

Barbarian Press Workshop

I recently took a 3-day workshop at Barbarian Press in Mission, BC, where I learned the basics of letterpress printing from some of the masters in the game. I printed a broadsheet with the lyrics from “Nothing Matters When We’re Dancing” by the Magnetic Fields. It was an excellent opportunity to peruse a range of beautiful printed books, sort through tons of old type, and gain valuable tips on letterpress printmaking. Pictures below!

Article: This is Not Art

There’s an article from This is Not Art – an Italian/English site dedicated to art writing – about the Di Carta/Papermade exhibition in that my work is in. There’s a lovely write up about my piece in it. The article is in Italian but you’re just a short Google translate away from understanding plus there’s great install pictures. Enjoy!

Dream City, Dreams Touring Serbia

My solo exhibition Dream City, Dreams which opened last summer in Belgrade, has now made its way to Novi Pazar in southern Serbia. If you can read serbian, you can see what they have to say about my exhibition. Below is the poster for the Canada Days event featuring part of one my prints.

The Body, Stranger at the Vernon Public Art Gallery

Here are some install shots of my recent solo exhibition, The Body, Stranger, that just closed at the Vernon Public Art Gallery. Many thanks to Lubos Cullen and all the gallery staff for putting up a great show and providing me with an opportunity to share my work with a larger audience. A catalogue was produced for the exhibition and features an essay by Barbara Sutherland. Copies are available at the gallery.

Upcoming Solo Exhibition: The Body, Stranger at VPAG

I’ve been working on a new body of work these past four months to be exhibited at the Vernon Public Art Gallery from January 2016 until March of the same year. While some works were completed earlier in 2015, the majority were created in the latter half of the year for this exhibition. All works are part of my The Body, Stranger series. Please join me at the opening reception on January 14th, 2016 from 6-8pm. Heather Huston e-vite

DI CARTA I PAPERMADE

I was honoured to have been included in Di Carta/Papermade by curator Valeria Bertesina. The exhibition features works on paper from artists around the world and includes many artists whose work I admire greatly. The show opens on December 12th at Palazzo Fogazzaro in Schio, Italy. The theme of the biennial is Esthetics Aesthetics and the work that was invited of mine is two of my silkscreens to be exhibited as a diptych that deal with intersections between chronic illness and daily life. Title of the diptych is Conversations With Myself.

Printing Marks and Codes / Printing Design International Invitation Exhibition

I was honoured to have been invited to participate in Printing Marks and Codes/Printing Design International Invitation Exhibition at the Printmaking Department at the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. The exhibition opened on November 14th and will run until the end of the month. I have many fond memories of Chongqing and my time there in 2011. The city is large, bright, and busy and sits at the intersection of two major rivers: the Yangzee and the Jialing.

Dream City, Dreams

I recently returned from a trip overseas to Belgrade, Serbia, where I had a solo exhibition of my prints titled Dream City, Dreams at Prodajna Galerija “Beograd”. I had a fantastic experience thanks to the gallery and all the excellent artists I met during my time there. Prior to my opening, I was interviewed for a radio program and a television program. I was thrilled to have the Canadian ambassador to Serbia open my exhibition. Here are some shots from the exhibition. Thank-you to Aleksandar Mladenovic Leka for writing an excellent catalogue essay (follow the link to one of his amazing projects).
